Barry G

Barry discovered Salsa later in life than most (he’s older than you think) in 2000. He studied locally in Preston and Manchester and built up a small collection of salsa music for his own use.His first DJ’ing gig was for his first Salsa Teacher (for whom he still plays) but has gone from strength to strength since his first public performance in 2002.

He plays a good mix of New York and Puerto Rican Salsa when playing for Salsology but has been fortunate to become resident DJ at other major Salsa events in the Northwest, in particular the popular Towering Inferno nights at Blackpool Tower where he plays a more varied mix of music to include Bachata Merengue and Cha-Cha.

Barry is the resident host of Room 2 at the Salsology events playing a more relaxed style of Salsa, Bachata and Salsa aimed at those less experienced dancers or for those who prefer a more relaxed style of dance.

Barry has played at the following venues (amongst others)

Salsology at Prestwich (2004 to present)

Chris Mee

Chris (aka DJ Mambomagic) plays a variety of music for all, but his heart lies in gritty urban salsa and brass laden big band sounds.  In his quest to offer new musical experiences to the dancer he is always seeking out rare vinyl and out of print gems for his next set.

Though known for his hardcore salsa set's, Chris has played a range of events, from international salsa congresses to intimate latin clubs both home and abroad. Having played to both dancers and music aficionados he knows how to play to a varied crowd. Additionally, being able to see things from a dancers perspective he understands what keeps feet on the floor and works hard to keep the dancers "in the groove" all night.

What started as a record collecting obsession in his youth became a deep rooted passion for latin music. After a spell Dj'ing House music in his teens he swiftly moved on to latin music.  Growing tired with some of the bland salsa releases of the early 90's, Chris acquired a taste for the urban salsa sounds of 60's and 70's New York, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

Recent highlights for Chris include becoming a Salsology resident and playing at the New York Salsa Congress.

Chris has DJed at numerous events both in the UK and around the World, including:-

The Brit Salsafest 2006 and 2007, Blackpool
The New York Salsa Congress 2004, Manhattan, USA
British Salsa Congress 2003, Skegness
Salsology (Resident), Manchester
Helsingborg Salsa Congress 2004, Sweden
